Americans in particular were convinced he was a real character and they flocked to London’s Fleet Street in their droves to visit the very establishment where the supposed murders took place. Strange as it may seem they weren’t disappointed as there actually was a Sweeney Todd Hairdresser establishment at 152-153 Fleet Street that opened in the early 1900s, obviously cashing in the name with great success.
