Jam jar is still an occasionally used cockney rhyming slang even though jam jars have completely different uses to cars. Basically cars get stuck in jams and jams get stuck in jars, so they’re opposites as opposed to slang descriptions of each other. That said, we’re off and running with jam jar, car.

What do you call a car made of sausage meat that’s passed its sell-by date? An old banger.
