THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS

My darling George, what can I say?

Such a surprise appeared Christmas Day

I can’t believe you thought so much of me

You sent me a partridge shoved up a pear tree

Especially as it’s the one bird around

That builds its nest down here on the ground

My darling George it was a very nice touch

So in return I say thanks very much

My darling George, you old rascal you

As the 12 days of Christmas reaches day two.

Today’s the day I’m so proud to boast

Two turtle doves arrived through the post

They weren’t exactly on my Christmas list

When you chose them, I’m wondering, George were you pissed?

But despite all that, you are still my love

And to prove it I now have a sweet turtle dove

Dearest George, now all my friends

Are confused by the fact you’ve sent three French hens

In three days you’ve sent me six unwanted birds

Quite frankly George I’m just lost for words

The bathroom now is beginning to stink

Hardly surprising with six birds in the sink

There’s poo on the lampshade and poo on the floor

Six untrained birds, please don’t send anymore

Oh no, this morning I’m lost for words

The postman’s just handed me four calling birds

George you’re testing my love for you now

Come and take them away, today, without fail

There’s six birds in the sink now and four in the bath

I’m beginning to think you’re having a laugh

A parrot yes, or a budgerigar

But four calling birds? I don’t even know what they are?
