BRINGING MY MOTHER BACK TO LIFE THROUGH HER ART

In 1980 my Mother, Doris Ivy, attended art school at the age of 63. She died 5 years later. When recently clearing the attic I found her portfolio of watercolour paintings. I have kept many to pass to my family and have now decided to do something my Mum was never able to do.

Doris Ivy Digance 1917 - 1985

Doris Ivy was born in Botha Road, Canning Town in The East End of London. At the age of 63, whilst working as a cleaner at a sweet factory in Romford Road, she decided to take up art for the first time with remarkable success as you see. Her dream lasted just 5 years until she died in The London Chest Hospital in 1985. Just five years with a desire to have her very own art exhibition, here it is.
